  • The Eclipse Assessment/Design Analytics Engine (EAE) consumes the asset inventory information through a variety of data acquisition techniques including:

    1. Import data from existing CMDB or other third party performance monitoring tools currently leveraged within the client environment

    2. Seamless integration with third party asset management systems such as HP Openview, IBM TADDM, BMC Atrium etc.

    The EAE Tool leverages industry leading benchmarks (Ideas RPE2), to normalize the asset inventory information supplied by the clients for the purposes of accurate data cleansing and normalization.

    The EAE employs data-driven, fact-based analysis that takes into consideration the technical, business and workload constraints to determine the optimal end state architecture. In addition, this tool provides with several options to perform multiple “what-if” analyses that are described as “Scenarios”

    1. The tool provides automated analysis for a variety of transformation needs including (but not limited to) Virtualization, Consolidation, Workload Porting & Migrations, Data Center Relocation, Data Center Consolidation, Data Center Facilities Analysis, Cloud Adoption Assessment etc .
    2. Automated import and mapping of the IT Infrastructure inventory. This inventory data will be supplied to the software as a Microsoft Excel (2007 or higher) file.
    3. The software provides a user friendly, GUI interface for a mapping wizard, which will map the inventory data to the input parameters of the software.
    4. In addition, Optilyze will provide Dell with a generic map for the chosen data inventory tool, which can be leveraged across multiple projects within Dell.
    5. The software provides a cleansing wizard that will perform data cleansing of the inventory data within the input spreadsheet.
    6. The software provides a validation wizard to ensure all data elements within the inventory have correctly been cleansed and are ready for analysis.
    7. The software provides a grouping wizard to enable the data and workload analysis to prepare for the solutioning.
    8. The software provides a solution wizard that will define the scope, action to be performed on the workloads, choosing appropriate target hardware models, setting the cost components etc.
    9. The software provides a report generation wizard that will automate the creation of a detailed assessment report containing a comprehensive business case, technical solution, detailed analysis of the current state and future state etc.
    10. The software provides unlimited access to IDEAS RPE2 data, which will be used to analyze the current asset baselines and provide the target architecture sizing and facilities analysis.

    The tool will be provided with a self installation kit which will automate the installation of the software on user’s desktops/laptops. The tool will have the ability to run on a virtual machine as well as a dedicated machine and will be supported on Windows 7, XP, and Windows Vista.

    Data Consumption
    The tool is designed to import data from any commercial data collection tool including Optilyze’s Data Collection Appliance, BMC Atrium, HP Openview, Tivoli TADDM etc. The data import and mapping capabilities within the tool are automated via a user-friendly mapping screen.

    Data Collection
    The data can be collected using any of the commercially available tools mentioned above, and will be stored in a central repository for the purposes of central harvesting during the analysis phases. The central repository will be in the form of a relational database.

    Raw Data
    Users will be provided access to the raw data and cleansed data stored in the relational database. In addition, users will be provided unrestricted access to the reports generated using the tool.

    The tool has the ability to export Graphs, and Charts as pictures and automatically embed them into the final deliverable. The final Assessment/Design report is automatically generated by tool and will have the ability to include multiple “what-if” scenarios. The final Assessment/Design report is currently available in MS Word 2007/2010 format.

    Optilyze will provide minimal documentation for the following items which can be shared with customers:

    Overall Impact
    Documentation of the overall impact of the tool and considerations such as network traffic generated and CPU and memory utilization by the tool itself will be documented.

    Network Requirements
    The network ports and protocols that the tools use for communications will be identified and clearly documented. Firewall considerations (if any) must also be documented.

    The database schema or data file field definitions will be provided to the user.
